This work consists of the cutting and disposal of all vegetative growth during brushing activity which interferes with sight distance or encroaches on the roadbed, ditch line or culvert inlets and outlets. Removal of marked hazard trees will not be part of this contract. The Forest Service reserves the right to designate priority areas and order of work for roads within those areas. Roads vary in surface type and level of roadside brushing needed. Level of roadside brushing is described as follows: •Light Clearing and Grubbing - Applies where minor vegetation is encroaching into road traveled way, locations of work required within a road may be infrequent •Medium Clearing and Grubbing - Applies where vegetation is encroaching into road traveled way, existing cleared path is approximately 8 feet and greater and is such that a pick up can still drive through, locations of work required within a road may be continuous or infrequent. •Heavy Clearing and Grubbing - Applies to brushing of heavily grown in roads that are to be reopened for access. Characteristics include: existing cleared path is less than 8 feet, brush and small trees growing within the road bed. This item would be used on roads still accessible to a brusher or masticator.
