- The Veterans Administration (VA) Service Area Office East (SAO-E) R&D contracting office intends to negotiate on a sole-source basis with Digital Medical Technologies (DME) (Adhere Tech), 11 Broadway, Suite 925, New York, NY, 10004, for the procurement of 200 wireless medication/smart prescription bottles to monitor medication adherence in patients participating in a VA research study into cancer. Study is being conducted at the VA Durham Medical Center, 508 Fulton Ave, Durham, NC 27705. This procurement is being conducted in accordance with FAR 6.302-1(a)(2), only one responsible source, because the Government believes that only DME is the only provider of these items and that only the Adhere Tech wireless pill bottles offer a dropper applicator. These bottles are to be used in a glaucoma research study and all bottles need to be equipped with a dropper for use by study patients. Salient characteristics of the DME prescription bottles: Eye dropper; Cellular connectivity; Sends phone and text messages regarding adherence compliance; Lights and chimes; Bottle indicates ideal dosage time; This notice of intent is not for competitive quotes. The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) number is 423450, small business size standard of 200 employees. This notice is NOT a request for competitive proposals and no solicitation document is available. However, parties may express their interest accompanied by supporting literature by email to Jeff Greis, Contracting Officer, no later than April 14, @ 1200 ET. Responses should be sent to jeffrey.greis@va.gov. No telephone responses will be accepted. Information received will be for the purpose of determining whether or not to conduct a competitive procurement or proceed with a sole-source procurement. The determination to conduct a competitive procurement based on responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the VAPHS Contracting Officer. Please include in your responses: socioeconomic status (i.e., SDVOSB and DUNS numbers); ability to supply the brand name (or equal) prescription bottles; brief product descriptions;
