- The U.S. Army Contracting Command - New Jersey (ACC-NJ), in support of U.S. Army Armament Research, Development, and Engineering Center (ARDEC) is currently seeking information on high speed gimbals to inform future efforts related to the development of Multi-Role High Speed Armament System (MR HS AS). The gimbals shall have a minimum: • Azimuth and elevation axes driven by motors capable of position control • A payload capacity of at least 25kg • Angular acceleration of the full payload at 500 rad/s2 • Angular rate of the full payload at 15 rad/s • Positional error (actual to target position) of ±9 milliradians Additional desired criteria include: • Controllable angular rate within the range of 0 to max angular rate • Controllable angular acceleration within the range of 0 to max angular acceleration • Space to accommodate a 10cm wide x 40 cm high x 60cm long payload; axis of rotation is orthogonal to the plane formed by the width and height • Designed or tested to MIL-STD-810G for environment and ground vehicles • Designed or tested to MIL-STD-1275E for ground vehicles • Weight less than 300kg • Total volume less than 2m3 The Government asks all interested parties in industry and academia to submit a short informational paper to include but not limited to: Gimbal description, photos and gimbal performance information. These information papers should describe how the interested parties may meet the objectives cited above. This may include a summary of candidate systems and relevant expertise, facilities and experience in systems integration. This Sources Sought Notice is for planning purposes only and shall not be construed as a solicitation or Request for Proposal (RFP) or as an obligation on the part of the Government. If a formal solicitation is generated at a later date, a Request for Proposal (RFP) will be issued. If a RFP is released, it will be synopsized on the Federal Business Opportunities (FedBizOpps) website. It is the responsibility of the potential offerors to monitor this website for additional information pertaining to this requirement. The Government is not obligated to notify respondents of the results of this survey. All information submitted will be held in a confidential status. Information provided will not be returned. TELEPHONE INQUIRIES/SUBMISSIONS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED. The Government will accept questions via email ONLY. The Government is not seeking, and will not accept, unsolicited proposals. Responders are advised that the Government is not responsible and will not pay for any information or administrative costs incurred in responding to this notice.
