THIS IS A SOURCES SOUGHT NOTICE ONLY. THIS IS NOT A REQUEST FOR QUOTE. The NCO 12, Great Lakes Acquisition Center, 115 S. 84th Street, Suite 101, Milwaukee, WI   53214, is performing market research to determine if there is a sufficient number of qualified: (1) Service Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business (SDVOSB); (2) Veteran Owned Small Business (VOSB); or (3) Small or emerging small business firms, or (4) Large business firms, to provide one (1) Cryostat for the VA Illiana Health Care System, 1900 E. Main Street, Danville, IL 61832, as described below. General Specifications: a. Shall be a modern standalone cryostat capable of sectioning frozen tissue samples. b. The operating temperature shall allow temperatures between 0 to at least -20 degree Celsius. c. The unit shall have manual or automatic defrosting abilities to allow for maintenance and proper disinfection and the removal of ice crystals due to room humidity. d. The fine trimming thickness lower end range shall be 3 microns. The equipment shall be able to cut 3 micron sections. e. The fine trimming thickness upper range shall allow sections at 9 microns for fattier tissues. f. The unit shall plug into a standard US power outlet (3 prong) 110Vac 120Vac 50/60 hertz. g. Specimen orientation shall allow for x and y and z axis adjustments of the chuck holder so that tissues can be faced accurately. h. The unit shall have an adjustable knife blade holder that accommodates low profile microtome blades. i. The unit shall have a light in the cryostat chamber for visibility of specimens. j. The unit shall have either a motorized or manual feed system for facing, sometimes called Trimming Thickness Range. k. The range for Trimming Thickness Range shall offer a range between 5-25 microns. l. The vertical stroke or travel range of the chuck holder shall be at least 55mm or greater. m. The cyrobar or quick freeze shelf shall be able to cool to at least -35 degree Celsius. n. Technicians stand at the unit during cryo-sectioning so the unit shall be at least 35 inches high. All interested firms who can meet the requirements stated above should respond, in writing, INCLUDING ALL OF THE FOLLOWING: Company name. Address. Point of contact (name/title/telephone number/e-mail address). DUNS number. Tax ID number. FSS contract number if applicable. Indication of which business category (SDVOSB, VOSB, Small Business or Large Business) for which the organization qualifies. A capability statement that addresses the organizations qualifications and ability to provide the requirement depicted above, and proof (i.e. correspondence from manufacturer) of your firm being an authorized distributor for the manufacturer. Submit responses to the Contracting Officer, Thomas Chesak, at thomas.chesak@va.gov no later than 10:00 a.m. (Central Standard Time), 03 April 2017. The NAICS Code 334516, Analytical Laboratory Instrument Manufacturing, is applicable to this acquisition; the size standard is 1,000 employees. Interested firms are reminded that in accordance with FAR 4.12, prospective contractors shall complete electronic annual representations and certifications in conjunction with FAR 4.11 required registration in the Systems for Award Management (SAM) database prior to award of a contract. The Government will use responses to this notice to make an appropriate acquisition decision. This is the only notice, no other copies of this notice will be provided.
