Description

The Durham Veterans Affairs Medical Center located in Durham, NC, requires a contractor experienced in the renovation and construction of medical facilities to furnish all labor, materials, tools, equipment, transportation and qualified supervision necessary to complete the project, Expand Operating Room Suite over Building 1, D-Wing". The objective of this project is to design a three story vertical addition over the existing two story east end of the Durham VA Medical Center (VAMC) Hospital s D Wing. The three story addition will align horizontally with the existing 3rd and 4th floors of the adjacent D Wing structure. The new 5th floor level will be offset above the existing 5th floor in order to create a more appropriate ceiling height and interstitial area for the 4th floor Operating Room Suite (ORs) than the existing floor to floor plate heights will allow. The exterior envelope of the addition will stack directly on top of the existing exterior walls excluding the mechanical room area on the north side of the structure. This is a Presolicitation Notice Only. This opportunity is available only to contractors under Public Law 109-461 and 38 USC 8127. This acquisition will be solicited pursuant to the Veterans' First Public Law 109-461 as a 100 % Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) Set-Aside. The S.D.V.O.S.B. contractor is required to perform a minimum of 15% of the construction work on the project utilizing their own workforce. Interested contractors should watch for the issuance of the actual solicitation which will have specific instructions and requirements associated with this procurement. The tentative date for issuing the solicitation is on or just after March 22, 2017, pre-bid/site visit on March 29, 2017 and with a bid opening approximately 30 days after the issuance of the solicitation. THESE ARE ONLY TENTATIVE DATES. THE SOLICITATION WILL HAVE SPECIFIC DATES, TIMES, AND LOCATIONS FOR THE BID OPENING AND SITE VISIT. The magnitude of construction per VAAR Part 836 is between $5,000,000.00 and $10,000,000.00. The NAICS Code for this procurement is 236220, Commercial and Institutional Construction, with a maximum small business size standard of $36.5 Million. All interested parties must be Center for Veterans Enterprise (CVE) verified in VETBIZ as an SDVOSB prior to submitting a bid.
