- Description
- The Army Contracting Command-New Jersey (ACC-NJ) at Picatinny Arsenal, NJ 07806-5000, on behalf of the US ARMY Research Development and Engineering Command, Armament Research, Development and Engineering Center (RDECOM-ARDEC), is conducting a market survey to identify potential qualified sources capable of providing the following: suppressors for the MK48 MOD1 machine gun for the purposes of test and evaluation. The Government is soliciting white paper proposals describing overall performance, test results, and cost of suppressors. The suppressors should provide good sound and flash reduction while providing minimal blowback in the operating group. In addition, the suppressor should not significantly increase or decrease the standard firing rate of the weapon of 680 to 780 rounds per minute. The suppressor should be able to withstand repeated use on the weapon at a minimum sustained rate of 200 rounds per minute for up to 5 minutes (1000 rounds) with a goal of 10 minutes (2000 rounds). The suppressor system can be screw on, quick disconnect, or integrally mounted to the barrel. A custom barrel and gas port configuration can be provided as long as it properly interfaces with the MK48 MOD1. Modifications of the gas block to include a captured piston or other modification is allowed but not necessary. The existing operating piston and rod should be utilized. The suppressor should be able to withstand firing of the weapon at full cyclic rate (trigger held down and not let up) for 200 rounds to simulate final defensive fire. The suppressor should be as short and light as possible. Maximum weight should be 2-3 lbs. Maximum length should be 7-8 inches. Maximum diameter of 3 inches. A suppressor that can be maintained and cleaned at regular intervals is preferred. Please provide the company's name and address, point of contact with telephone number and email address and size of business (whether large or small) and the NAICS code. This market survey is for information and planning purposes only. It does not constitute a Request for Proposal (RFP) and is not to be construed as a commitment by the U.S. Government. The U.S. Government implies no intention or opportunity to acquire funding to support current or future efforts. The Government is not obligated to notify respondents of the results of this survey. A white paper proposal must be submitted within thirty (30) days from the date of this publication to: US Army Contracting Command - New Jersey, ACC-NJ-JA ATTN: Margaret Stroynowski, Building 9, Picatinny Arsenal, New Jersey 07806-5000. Gordon, david.s.gordon26.civ@mail.mil. Phone inquiries will not be addressed. All requests should be submitted in writing via email.
