Description
PUBLIC NOTICE Notification is hereby given to the public of the U.S. General Service Administration's (GSA) intent to sign a succeeding lease for 15,519 ANSI BOMA sf of office space in the Seaport District of Boston, MA. The location of the project makes it susceptible to flooding at or above the 100-year flood level. Under the President's Executive Order 11988, "Floodplain Management," GSA is required to review the project for possible alternative solutions to the proposed action. Alternatives considered included locating the new facility outside the 500-year floodplain and not taking any action. However, relocating the Federal Public Defenders out of the Seaport neighborhood would split the operation of the courts, thus reducing the court's efficiency and causing unnecessary duplication of effort and expense. The Federal Public Defenders have a mission related requirement to be located within a five block radius of the Moakley Federal Courthouse because they are frequently required to go to and from the Courthouse multiple times a day and without much notice. Finally, GSA considered taking no lease action but the need for Federal Public Defender office space in the Seaport District of Boston, MA has been clearly demonstrated. Agencies that have been contacted for input into the analysis of this project include: Federal Public Defenders, Boston, MA Mayor's office. Public comment is invited on any of the alternatives listed or other possible alternatives. Interested persons may obtain more detailed information about this action and its specific location from GSA Leasing Specialist, Alanna Fitzpatrick by emailing alanna.fitzpatrick@gsa.gov or calling (617)­459-2117 between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Comments about this project should be submitted in writing to Alanna Fitzpatrick at the email address above or via mail sent to Alanna Fitzpatrick, 10 Causeway Street, 11 th Floor, Boston, MA 02222 within fifteen (15) days of this notice.
