- QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS QUESTION: Why are there no line items for the phosphate and sulfite? ANSWER: We are currently using phosphate and sulfite treatments separately at 1700 only. 1700 is tentatively scheduled to go offline April '17. After that we will use the combined treatment (phosphate-sulfite-amine) for all plants. I included the phosphate and sulfite in case we need to make another purchase for treatment at 1700. QUESTION: Are we to include these in Line item 0001 for boiler monitoring services? ANSWER: Yes, please include testing for sulfite and phosphate as part of the monitoring. We test for sulfite and phosphate at 1700 and other boilers as recommended by the Unified Facilities Criteria (UFC). QUESTION: If so, how are we to know how much of the phosphate and sulfite to include in this cost as these estimates have not been provided as they have been on the other chemicals? ANSWER: We will purchase phosphate and sulfite on an as needed basis. I don't have an estimate for use for now until April as we are having issues with our chemical feed systems at 1700. QUESTION: If there is not a record of historical usage, then boiler steaming rates and condensate return can be used to calculate, but we would need this information for all 33 boilers. ANSWER: We only use phosphate and sulfite treatments at 1700 all other boilers use the combined treatment. We will purchase phosphate and sulfite as needed until 1700 is shutdown. I don't have an estimate for phosphate and sulfite based on current usage. All the other boilers use the combined treatment.
