Description
The entire bridge deck, approximately 10,000 square feet shall receive a coating of Sikadur Epoxy Broadcast Overlay System or an approved equal meeting ASTM C-881 and AASHTO M-235 specifications. This system is a two component system, moisture tolerant, 100% solids epoxy resin binder. The surface shall be slip resistant by aggregate seeding or as directed by the manufacturer. This product covers between 150 to 200 sq. feet per gallon. All manufacturer's directions for surface preparation (which as a minimum will include pressure washing) application (atmospheric conditions) and curing shall be strictly adhered to. If it is discovered that bubbling or peeling of the coating has occurred, the contractor shall immediately remedy with removal of defective coating, new surface preparation, and application of new coating. The contractor shall submit the manufacturer's data on the proposed product for use to the USACE, Albuquerque, NM District Office for approval before any work is begun. b. The concrete bridge rails (parapet walls) approximately 1035 feet shall receive a new coating of DriVit synthetic stucco or an approved equal to the top of the wall and the inside face. Prior to applying the new stucco, all loose existing coating shall be removed. Included in this requirement is the parapet walls outside the bridge which are on the approach to the gate and bridge. Surface preparation shall be accomplished by pressure washing before the application of new stucco is begun.   c. Delamination Repairs- Concrete components throughout the top of the bridge has developed delamination and / or surface deterioration/cracks in numerous locations. All locations that show delamination/spalling similar to the areas shown in the photos shall be repaired.
