Description
Page 1 of 2 Synopsis: Please note that this is NOT a request for quotes or proposals. The Government is seeking information for market research purposes only. The Department of Veterans Affairs, VISN 2, Network Contracting Office 2 (10N2NCO) is currently conducting a market survey for firms capable of providing the following service: Title: Biopoint Patient Wristband Solution Software Maintenance and Support. Background: New York Harbor Healthcare System (VANYHHS) implemented BIOPOINTT/ENDUR ID patient wristband solution (BIOPOINT) throughout the medical center in selected locations at Manhattan, Brooklyn and St. Albans campuses. Implementing this software and printer solution will allow NYHHS to better comply with The Joint Commission s National Patient Safety Goal (NSPG) number 1 (01.01.01); Improve the Accuracy of Patient Identification. The need to properly identify patients for medication administration, blood component administration, lab draws, invasive procedures, and major surgery cannot be understated. The proposed solution has the patient s picture, barcodes and other pertinent data (such as DNR status, allergy information, elopement risk, etc.) encoded on the wristband. Moreover, the barcodes can be placed anywhere on the wristband to help prevent scanning errors related to wrist curvature. This identification system will increase the ability of staff to better ensure patient safety when providing care and will enhance hand off communications. Objective: VANYHHS effort goals are to maintain, upgrade, service and support all components of the BIOPOINT/ENDUR ID patient wristband system throughout VANYHHS campuses. Scope of Work: The contractor shall provide all resources necessary to accomplish the deliverables described in this statement of work (SOW), except as may otherwise be specified. Implement a solution and process to provide a system that receives output from the National VIC database System to produce a wristband label which includes standard patient clinical warnings and a digital image of the patient. Wristbands will be produced on recommended laser printers. Initial results from several VAMC s have shown significant advantages in wristband durability and longevity over the current system. Maintain upgrade, service and support all components of the BIOPOINT/ENDUR ID patient wristband solution throughout VANYHCS. Provide telephone technical support between the hours of 0800-2000, Eastern Standard Time, Monday through Friday, excluding holidays. Provide application version upgrades including new features with enhanced functionality and upgrade installation technical assistance. Provide required user documentation updates. Provide technical support (during established times listed above) for installation and configuration for any and all BIOPOINT printing devices; Including ward mapping and clinic assignment. Provide technical support (during established times listed above) for any design modifications which may be required by the site. This includes but is not limited to, additions, deletions, placement, color of all information printed on the wristband medium.
