Responses to the RFI will not be returned. At this time, questions concerning the composition and requirements for a future RFP will not be entertained. 2.0 SUBJECT: The Walter Reed Army Institute of Research (WRAIR) is conducting market research to perform protein expression and purification, enzyme assays, and bacterial growth inhibition assays in support of the Wound Infections Department (WID). 3.0 BACKGROUND: The Wound Infections Department (WID) within the Bacterial Diseases Branch at WRAIR conducts research to defeat combat-related wound infections. WID conducts requirements-driven programmatic research using a multi-disciplinary approach to characterize wound pathogenesis and develop novel antimicrobial countermeasures for wound infections of Service Members. The WID includes the WRAIR X-ray Crystallography Facility, which provides structure-based drug design services to WRAIR, DoD labs, industry, and academic collaborators to support the development of therapeutic and prophylactic countermeasures against bacteria, parasites, and viruses. 4.0 Response Instructions: Minimum Requirements Respondents should address the following in their capabilities statement: Specific Tasks: Task 1. Protein Expression and Purification for X-ray Crystallography Studies The Contractor shall express and purify MEP pathway proteins in sufficient quantities for x-ray crystallography studies and structure-based drug design. Task 2. Perform Enzyme Assays The Contractor shall perform enzyme assays with compounds supplied by the Government to determine inhibition constants. Task 3. Perform Bacterial Growth Inhibition Assays The Contractor shall perform bacterial growth inhibition assays and determine MICs with compounds supplied by the Government. Deliverables and Reports: The contractor shall deliver protein samples (> or = 0.5ml) at high concentration (> or = 10mg/ml) of 95% purity or greater for crystallization experiments and in vitro testing as requested by the COR. The contractor shall deliver data from enzyme and bacterial inhibition assays to the COR within 7 days of completing experiments. The contractor shall deliver a bi-yearly progress report describing all work done in support of this PWS by the 28th day of the month. (Reports are due in February and September) The Contractor shall deliver all deliverables to the Contracting Officer's Representative at 503 Robert Grant Avenue, Silver Spring, MD 20910-7500. 5.0 CONTACT INFORMATION: Any and all questions related to this RFI shall be directed to nathaniel.a.reus.civ@mail.mil All information regarding Capabilities Statements or any other proprietary information relative to this RFI shall be submitted via email to nathaniel.a.reus.civ@mail.mil no later than 3:00 pm E.S.T. on 11/15/2016.
