- Description
- SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory is operated by Stanford University for the Department of Energy. As a management and operating contractor, subcontracts awarded by the Laboratory are not Federal procurements, and are not directly subject to the Federal Acquisition Regulations in 48 CFR. Nonetheless, certain Federal laws, Executive Orders, and regulations may affect our DOE approved purchasing system, as required by statute, regulation, or contract terms and conditions. SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory (SLAC) is developing a beam delivery system for the Linac Coherent Light Source II (LCLS-II) located at SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory (SLAC) in Menlo Park, CA. LCLS-II is a U.S. Department of Energy project tasked to design and build a world-class X-ray free-electron laser facility for scientific research. The beam delivery system includes the Adjustable Apertures. The Adjustable Apertures, which is the component to be build, consists of an arrangement of movable x-ray absorber block jaws, remotely-controllable, which permit formation of a rectangular aperture from fully open beam stay clear to fully closed. Specific mechanical requirements of 20mm travel range with a position accuracy of ≤2µm and vacuum requirements of up to 1E-10 Torr with use of compatible materials and mounting solutions. The slit blocks will need to be water-cooled. The Supplier requirements are, but not limited to: " Demonstrated ability to deliver precision UHV instrumentation" · Comply with the design requirement documents · Design and manufacture four (4) assemblies, including four blade assemblies each · Design and manufacture up to five (5) additional blade assemblies · Conduct at least two design reviews · Fit within a specified design envelope · Provide calibration and alignment procedures · Conduct motion tests with verification of the requirements · Provide drawings, 3D models and calculations · Ship the components
