- Description
- The work entails the repair of the south diversion channel levee from Station 7+50 to Station 39+00. Runoff from the south Diversion Channel has eroded the landside toe of the levee since the initial repair effort completed in 2012. Flow was diverted from the low flow channel and directed towards the levee toe by and existing haul route used and developed by the contractor of the initial repair effort. The erosion at some locations has removed approximately half of the levee cross section. Repair of the levee erosion will consist of removing unsuitable levee damaged by erosion. The levee cross section will be rebuilt with suitable material excavated from the Washington Basin and from the extension and enlarging of the low flow channel. The low flow channel will be extended to tie in the end of the South Diversion channel outlet on the east and to the west the channel will be extended approximately 1000 feet. This extension will ensure the flows are captured and directed away from the levee. In addition, the levee cross section will be enlarged at the eroded area to add sacrificial fill along this area. Finally, toe protection will be added to protect the toe. The toe protection will include filter fabric and riprap.
