- Work under this Contract is for repair actions for the dam tower access bridge in Santa Rosa, NM. Contractor shall consider access requirements to accomplish repairs. Some areas of repair are at the underside of the bridge and are not easily accessible by ladders, scaffolds, etc. Specialty means of access may be required. Delamination Repairs- Concrete components throughout the bridge has developed delamination and/or surface deterioration/cracks in numerous locations.Repair is to be done at all spalling and cracking areas. All unsound concrete in detected areas shall be removed leaving sound, clean, and suitably rough surface to receive repair material. Photo 2 will need the grey primer removed/grinded off before proceeding with the repair. Following the preparation of delaminated/cracked areas, patch the repair area with ChemMasters ChemPatch VO1 or an approved equal for delaminated areas and ChemMasters Duraguard 401-30E or an approved equal for crack repair. Application of repair products shall be in strict accordance with manufacturer's recommendations and procedures. In several locations, there are missing bolts/washers on the bolts that secure the concrete railings.Replace all missing bolts and/or washers on all concrete railing attachments. 1-1/8" and 7/8" bolts are used in this area. Contractor shall verify sizes before any purchases are made. 5. Superstructure Element Repairs- Concrete Girder Repair- The girders have spalled corners and cracked corners. Also, the girders have thinning sealant at all of the bridge joints.At all girder ends, remove the old orange-yellow sealant by the contractor's preferred method and repair the spalling/cracks by using the spalling repair procedure given in Item 1 above. Repair the entire length of all girders by using Item 1 above. Apply, the sealant, ChemMasters Duraguard 401-30E or an approved equal from inside the expansion joint to the start of the slanted 45 degree diaphragm section. Application of repair products shall be in strict accordance with manufacturer's recommendations and procedures. The cover plates at the expansion joints on the decks have rust spots. Repair all cover plates. To repair these areas, remove all rust and lose paint. Recoat with rust inhibiting paint similar in color to existing). Joint Repair (Abutment and Tower Joints) - Replace bituminous joint filler at abutment 2 and the intake tower with BEJS SYSTEM - Bridge Expansion Joint System or an approved equal. The contractor will follow manufacturer's recommendations for the filler product. The joint system will need to be applied from underneath the deck because of joint access.
