- Description
- The US Department of Agriculture, Agricultural Research Service in Maricopa, AZ intends to award a sole source firm fixed price purchase order to ALMACO for a SPC40-2 Combine with customized specifications, which is the only combine on the market with a 12" clearance that can successfully harvest cereal grains, i.e. Triticale, barley, spring and durum wheat; forage crops, e.g. alfalfa, and small oilseed crops, Camelina, Canola and soybeans. 5-A 75" cutting width on a platform auger head; a 12" lifted frame that provides greater ground clearance for berms and beds to prevent damage to the cleaning system and a 75" cutting width on a platform auger head; a 12" lifted frame that provides greater ground clearance for berms and beds to prevent damage to the cleaning system. Other required feature found on the Almaco SPC40-2 include: 1-A high-throughput 15" diameter totally enclosed and hydraulically driven Y-valve threshing cylinder that prevents seed plot to seed plot contamination and allows operator controlled speed adjustments (0-1400 rpm) 2-A Caterpillar TM electronic controlled 91 HP Tier III Diesel turbocharged engine that is needed for harvesting in sandy soils (the SPC40-2 has 68 KW, 93 PS = 91 HP which is 17 HP more than most other combines) 3-A liquid-cooled engine that is necessary in Arizona's excessive heat conditions; 4- ALMACO exclusive full length internal conveyor belt that provides 100% clean-out between harvested plots; 5-A 75" cutting width on a platform auger head; a 12" lifted frame that provides greater ground clearance for berms and beds to prevent damage to the cleaning system; 6-A quick release sieve assembly that provides ease of use when switching between crops and cleaning the system; 7-A large capacity modular designed grain tank (1410 L/40 Bushels) 8- larger tires and wider stance for increased stability and decreased compaction in sandy field plots (23 x 10.5 sure grip lug rear tires, 10.5" width, 73"outer wheel width); 9-A two-speed hydrostatic drive, 0-8 mph; 10-ALMACO exclusive environmental enclosure that provides dustfree conditions for the operators; 11-A mobile hand-held computer with docking station that includes service from in-house Microsoft certified software engineers at ALMACO to assist researchers with custom harvesting software 12-A weighing system that will measure moisture, test weight, and total weight; multiple in-cab sampling options, i.e. the ability to bag a full sample,sub-sample, or to discard the sample to the grain tank for storage - this gravity based system does not require a vacuum to move the sample to the cab 13-Safety features: electric folding ladder with controls from the ground or in the cab, 14-A hydraulic operator-controlled 2-speed front axle with ALMACO exclusive hydraulic FAIL-SAFE TM brakes that require hydraulic pressure to release the brakes. The key safety feature of the break system is that the brakes automatically engage if hydraulic pressure is lost or if the engine is shut off. Most commercial combines are equipped with a standard independent mechanical brake system that does not have this safety feature. 15- 3yr Warranty Parts and Labor 16-Trade-in allowance for a Gov. owned Hage Combine The government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source under the authority of FAR 13.106-1(b) (SAP), FAR 13.5 and 10 U.S.C. 2304(c)(1). Interested firms may identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirement. This notice of intent is NOT a request for competitive quotations; however, all quotations/responses received within 5 days of the issuance of this notice will be considered by the government. A determination by the government not to compete this proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. Reponses are to be sent to the attention of Fred Gifford as listed in this notice. If no affirmative written response is received by 1630 PST, 16 September 2016, an award will be pursued with the company mentioned above. All businesses wishing to conduct business with the US. Federal Government are required to obtain a DUNS number and register in SAMS (System for Award Management).
