- Description
- STRIDE Fact Sheet Budget Format SINTEF Nepal Health Sector Strategy 2015-2020 STRIDE 6th Annual Performance Report Solicitation USAID/Nepal seeks to contract with a vendor to design and implement a pilot study to measure the effectiveness of training peripheral health workers to detect and refer for treatment children with selected impairments. The focus of the training will be on detecting impairments in children under five years of age, and thus the training must align with the skill sets of those health workers that attend deliveries and those that give postnatal care. The medical and paramedical level of staff that should be considered for the training on early detection and referral of childhood disabilities include nursing staff, health assistants, auxiliary nurse midwives, and auxiliary health workers. The training can also address detection and referral of impairments for older children, given assumed unmet need for treatment of disabilities among older children. Thus, referrals for children up to nineteen years of age would also be accepted in the study. It is expected, however, that over time and with the unmet need of older children gradually met, the focus of health worker attention will be on children under five years of age.
