Description
The U. S. Army Contracting Command, Rock Island Contracting Center (ACC-RI), Rock Island, IL on bahalf of the Office of the Project Manager for Combat Ammunition Systems (PM CAS), is conducting a market survey to identify qualified companies/sources capable of developing an additive that would prevent hardened gun residue adhesion on the 155mm cannon bore surface in the high charge firing environment. The preference is to identify a self-contained component that can quickly be introduced into the inventory to supplement 155mm high-charged systems during firing. For consideration as a capable source for this effort, all interested parties must submit the requested information as follows: a. Provide a detailed description that demonstrates experience in the area of interior ballistic environments. b. Provide a description of the specific experience and technical expertise in 155m equivalent cannon residue mitigation in extremely high temperature ballistic environments. c. Provide a description of the specific experience and technical expertise pertaining to supplemental/additive materials proven to discourage cannon residue formation in high charge firing environments. d. If an interested source has an alternative solution, other than a self-contained component to supplement high charge firing, the source shall provide the planned approach and advantages. e. All interested sources shall provide a summary of their company's information to include: Company Name, Address, Point of Contact (POC), Cage Code, Related Manufacturing and Development Experience (past and/or present). This is a market survey for planning purposes only, and shall not be construed as a Request for Proposal or as an obligation on the part of the Government. All information submitted in response to this announcement is voluntary; the U. S. Government will not pay for information requested, nor will it compensate any respondent for any cost incurred in developing information provided to the U. S. Government. All information submitted will be held as confidential and contractor proprietary data. The contractor shall provide all information requested in this notification within 30 days of this publication by electronic mail at no cost to the Government, to Mr Larry Leahy, Contract Specialist, Army Contracting Command - Rock Island, at lawrence.j.leahy.civ@mail.mil, commercial phone (309) 782-3723. Should a formal solicitation be generated at a later date, a solicitation notice will be published. No award will be made as a result of this market survey
