- Description
- The National Institute of Environmental Health Science (NIEHS) intends to award a Purchase Order to Bio-Rad Laboratories, Inc. at 2000 Alfred Nobel Drive, Hercules, CA 94547, to provide maintenance and service for the Bio-Rad Real-Time PCR System to be used at NIEHS, Research Triangle Park campus. The North American industry Classification System (NAICS) Code is 811219 and the business size standard is $20.5 million dollars. NO SOLICITATION OR REQUEST FOR QUOTE (RFQ) IS AVAILABLE. It has been determined that Bio-Rad Laboratories, Inc. is the only known responsible source capable of providing the required services and no other service will satisfy the agency's requirements. The purpose of this Purchase Order is to provide maintenance service for the Bio-Rad Real-Time PCR System. This is a service/support agreement on a CFX-96 Touch Quantitative Real-Time Polymerase Chain Reaction (qRT-PCR) system used in the lab at NIEHS. The Bio-Rad CFX-96 Touch qRT-PCR machine is a scientific instrument used for the amplification (via Polymerase Chain Reaction or PCR) and detection (via optical fluorescence) of nucleic acids (DNA and RNA) in samples. This is used for microbiological diagnostic purposes. The initial acquisition of this unit included a 1-year warranty, which included service/repair or calibration of the unit. The service/support agreement includes onsite service by Bio-Rad service engineers and the use of a temporary replacement unit if they must take equipment back for repair. This notice of intent is not a solicitation or request for quotes. Notwithstanding, any firm that believes it is capable of meeting NIEHS' requirement, as stated herein, may submit their corporate capabilities, which, if received by the response date of this announcement, may be considered. Responses to this posting must be in writing and shall be emailed to Teresa McCall at teresa.mccall@nih.gov and are due by 4:30PM ET on August 15, 2016. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement in the future.
