- This is a Source Sought Notice - Request for Information (RFI). This is not a solicitation announcement for proposals and no contract will be awarded from this announcement. No reimbursement will be made for any cost associated with providing information in response to this announcement or any follow-up information requests. The Southwest Regional Maintenance Center (SWRMC) San Diego, CA seeks information from west coast sources that can support the USS HOWARD (DDG-83) Dry-docking Availability. The controlling work items are: 1. Provide and manage Schedule and Associated Reports 2. Inspect and repair Port Propulsion Shafting and Bearings 3. Repair and test Controllable Pitch Propeller (CPP) Prairie Air Tube and Valve Rod Assembly 4. Clean and inspect and flush Controllable Pitch Propeller (CPP) Hydraulic System 5. Replace Controllable Pitch Propeller (CPP) System, Propeller Hub 6. Inspect and assess Controllable Pitch Propeller (CPP) System, Propeller Blade 7. Replace Controllable Pitch Propeller (CPP) Oil Distribution Box 8. Provide Ship's Force Transportation 9. Provide Ship's Force Parking 10. Accomplish Temporary Service, Equipment and Systems Test, Inspection and Repair in Contractor Plant, Barge 11. Accomplish Dry-docking and Undocking The USS HOWARD(DDG-83) will require an estimated 90 days in dry dock. Dry dock must be a Navy certified dry dock. The projected availability dates are 31 August 2016 through 29 November 2016. Other considerations for this docking: The USS HOWARD is displacing (weighing) 9,200 long tons. The certified lifting of the dry dock would handle that on a tons per foot basis. The draft of the ship, including the projections of the sonar dome and propellers is at 30.5 ft. The docking will require a 12 foot keel height. The USS HOWARD is an Arleigh Burke class destroyer. Dimensions are: Length Overall: 509 feet, 6 inches. Breadth: 66 feet Depth: 30.5 feet This RFI is open to all business concerns that are qualified under the North American Industry Class System (NAICS) code 336611 (Shipbuilding and Repairing). All interested sources are requested to provide answers to the following: I. General Information 1. Name and address to include point of contact (phone number and email address). 2. Docking Availability Information 1. What is the size of the dry-dock facility? 2. Is the dry-dock certified by the Navy? 3. Is your facility available during the above mentioned timeframe? If not, when is it available? Where exactly is the dry-dock located?
