Fermilab requests your response to the Request for Information (RFI) as detailed in Attachment A in accordance with the following: This RFI does not commit Fermilab or the United States Government to pay any costs incurred in the preparation or submission of any response to procure any supplies or services. You should clearly indicate proprietary data in response to this RFI that you do not want disclosed to the public for any purpose or used by Fermilab or the Government except for evaluation purposes. Your response to this RFI should be received in either hard copy, or electronically no later than 3:00PM CST on August 29, 2016, by the Procurement Supervisor shown below: Fermi Research Alliance LLC Kirk Road & Wilson Street P.O. Box 500, MS # 210 Batavia, IL 60510 Attn: Thomas R. Powers Email: trpowers@fnal.gov This Request for Information (RFI) is specifically for Nb3Sn strand conductor. Among the varieties of Nb3Sn conductor, this Acquisition seeks highly specialized strand for particle accelerator magnets, with performance characteristics that exceed characteristics found in other varieties of Nb3Sn conductor. The field of operation of magnets to be made from this conductor exceeds the field range where Nb-Ti conductors, which were used to manufacture the present LHC magnets, might be used. The current specifications are identified in Attachment A attached to this letter, and vendors shall clearly present their capabilities in response to the specifications. This information may be used to develop a Request for Proposal for a future procurement of services. We would appreciate if you would indicate via email, if your company intends on responding with a Budgetary Proposal to this RFI no later than August 15, 2016.
