- The purpose of this correspondence is to announce a Nuclear and SUBSAFE Industry Day for sharing of information on the four Naval Shipyards' (NSYs), Portsmouth Naval Shipyard, Kittery, ME; Norfolk Naval Shipyard, Portsmouth, VA; Puget Sound Naval Shipyard, Bremerton, WA; and Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard, Honolulu, HI contracting strategies FY17 through FY19. This announcement is restricted to Nuclear shipyards and SUBSAFE certified companies. BACKGROUND: The Navy is experiencing an increased workload that requires private sector support to meet the total NSYs' workload requirements. The NSYs have identified Potential Nuclear and SUBSAFE workload that they project can be supported by the private sector. The current workload requirement for the NSYs through the Future Years Defense Plan (FYDP) which may require private sector support is ~ 1.2 million MDs GOAL: The goal of the Industry Day will focus on the details of each NSY's Nuclear and SUBSAFE workload requirements and to better understand the private sector's estimated capacity to support resources s at public activities, (e.g. naval shipyards, refit facilities, etc.). This event will provide an opportunity for both the Government and industry to share experience, identify constraints, develop common understanding of trade skill capacity, and provide recommendations to support contracting strategies. During the Industry Day conference, there will be opportunities for industry representatives to ask questions and/or to engage in discussions with Government representatives from NAVSEA and from each NSY. SCHEDULE: The Industry Day will be divided into separate events for (1) SUSBSAFE Certified Organizations and (2) Nuclear Certified Private Shipyards as follows: •(1) SUBSAFE Certified Organizations: Date: 10 August 2016 Time: 0800 - 1600 EST Location: 4300 Wilson Blvd, Suite 750, Rm #718, Arlington, VA (CACI) •(2) Nuclear Certified Private Shipyards Date: 11 August 2016 Time: 0800 - 1600 EST Location: 4300 Wilson Blvd, Suite 750, Rm #718, Arlington, VA (CACI) The Nuclear discussion will have a morning session for the submarine workload and an afternoon session to discuss carrier workload. Details will be provided in the agenda. Attendance is limited to no more than four individuals per organization. This will be an UNCLASSIFIED event hosted by Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA). RSVP is required no later than 29 July 2016 to danielle.tyler1@navy.mil. The NSY's Nuclear and SUBSAFE contracting plans FY17 - FY19, along with meeting agenda, will be provided by NAVSEA on 3 August 2016 to allow all organizations time to prepare for meeting. The Government is not responsible for any costs incurred in order to participate in the Nuclear and SUBSAFE industry day.
