- List of Testing needed for your reference Interested vendors please complete and return attachment_1 by notice closing date and time The National Veterinary Services Laboratories (NVSL), located in Ames, IA is in need of a Firm fixed Priced Indefinite Quantity/Indefinite Delivery Contract to retain a Clinical Lab Improvement Act ( CLIA) Certified medical laboratory that will support the medical surveillance program goals established by the United States Department of Agriculture National Centers for Animal Health. Requirements for Indefinite Quantity ordering: Collect blood and urine samples for approximately 800 people on site. An off site location for sample collection will also be provided within a 5 mile radius of the NCAH, and will provide service 7 days a week, 24 hours a day. The laboratory will be CLIA certified and will adhere to all HIPPA standards and requirements. Medical lab personnel will complete CLIA (Clinical Lab Improvement Act) Regulations competency based training and update the training in accordance with the CLIA standards. Medical lab must be able to process samples within 2 hours of collection for any routine labs, and within 2 weeks for labs that need to be sent out for further testing. Any lab work needing to be sent out by the lab for further testing, must be done under strict CLIA regulation, and the HIPPA standard applies. The National Centers for Animal Health (NCAH) Occupational Health and Medical Surveillance program covers the National Animal Disease Center, National Veterinary Services Laboratories, Center for Veterinary Biologics and National Laboratory for Agriculture and the Environment. The program is designed to minimize personnel health risks when working with hazardous materials, infectious agents, and/or biologics, through medical monitoring and prevention. The program goal is to meet or exceed health and safety regulations, and protect the health of all government employees, visiting contractors, scientists, lab personnel and students working on the campus. All NCAH personnel including part time and student workers are encouraged to participate in the Medical Surveillance Program. The program is provided at no charge to participants. A crucial component of the medical surveillance program is blood and urine exposures that may have occurred while working at NCAH.
