Description
Veterinary Diagnostic Services. This is a notice of intent to award a sole source purchase order to The Colorado State University Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory (CSUVDL) for veterinary diagnostic services related to Arctic mammals and fowl and the effects of climate change. The requirement is to analyze serum and fecal samples from Arctic Foxes, geese, small mammals, and polar bears. Specifically, the qualified contractor must have experience with the pathogens: Brucella, Coxiella, Morbillivirus, Neospora, Leptospira (all serotypes), Echinococcus, Crtptosporidium, and Giardia. Potential contractors must demonstrate experience with all the above mentioned pathogens as related specifically to Arctic mammals and fowl. The CSUVDL is accredited by the American Association of Veterinary Laboratory Diagnosticians (AAVLD) as a full-service, all species laboratory and performs more than 330,000 tests annually. The CSUVDL has a Quality System that meets and in most places, exceeds, AAVLD guidelines, which are based on ISO 17025 standards. The CSUVDL can provide full veterinary diagnostic testing services, including bacteriology, chemistry, toxicology, virology, parasitology and pathology testing and results/interpretation. The CSUVDL has a necropsy floor, numerous BSL-2 laboratories and one CDC/USDA Select Agent approved BSL- 3 laboratory. CSUVDL has developed and implemented the methodologies required for the current project and has worked extensively on detection of animal diseases in blood and tissue samples. CSUVDL staff has a high degree of familiarity with both the standard laboratory methods and the modification and validation measures necessary for application of these methods to the Arctic wildlife species used in this study.
