Description

Sole Source Justification The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention intends to award a sole source firm fixed price purchase order to Georgia Tech Research Corporation to perform a Bioinformatics analysis of the Cyclospora cayetanensis genome. The purpose of this requirement is for CDC to obtain results from highly advanced and cutting-edge bioinformatics analysis of the C. cayetanensis genome. The service requested will build on the expertise and knowledge recently provided to CDC from the Georgia Tech Research Corporation Center for Bioinformatics & Computational Genomics. This new requirement includes improved bioinformatic algorithms and applications for the automated analysis of C. cayetanensis genomes, and the production of accurate results regarding the genome composition, structure and variation. This will be accomplished by the development of novel methods for consensus assembly and consensus annotation. Completion of task 1 in this requirement will result in faster and more streamlined analysis of whole genome sequencing data and will thus allow us to move the entire AMD project forward faster. Results from task 2 is needed to better guide CDCs efforts in our collaboration with FDA to develop antigen-based detection methods. Results from task 3 is necessary for the development of SNP-based typing markers. This contract action is for supplies or services for which the Government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source under the authority of FAR 13.106-1(b) (SAP) and 10 U.S.C. 2304(c)(1). Interested persons may identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirement or submit proposals. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotations; however, all quotations/responses received within five (7) days of the issuance of this notice will be considered by the government. A determination by the government not to compete this proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.
