Description
This sources sought is issued solely for informational, planning purposes and market research in accordance with FAR Part 10. This sources sought is seeking interested residential construction contractors capable and interested in meeting the following requirements. The Department of Veterans Affairs, Veterans Benefits Administration (VBA), Midwest District Contracting, is conducting market research to determine the existence of contractor's that can perform the following: Contractor shall remodel the home of a Disabled Veteran to allow for the continued Independent Living. The main bathroom will be modified to provide safe easy access to sink, shower, and toilet. Demolition and Construction: Remove and dispose of one (1) tub/shower located hallway bath Remove and dispose of two (2) interior doors; bathroom and master bedroom Furnish and install wall mounted swing?up grab bar centered at 30" A.F.F, with brushed stainless steel finish, installed per manufactures instructions between toilet and shower. Remove and replace the existing hallway bath door and master bedroom door with 36" wide pre hung interior door of like design and hardware to those found in the house. Paint door to match, and patch and repair sheetrock and paint to match. Remove interior partitions as indicated in sketch. Remove existing window as indicated in sketch. Furnish and install vinyl window 24"x36", translucent suitable for egress with privacy glass per manufacture's specifications. Ensure all weatherproofing meets specifications. Furnish and install a new grab bars at 30" A.F.F. per sketch, with brushed stainless steel finish install per manufactures instructions under existing window in master bath. Furnish and install new shower seat per sketch Furnish and install wall mounted swing?up grab bar centered at 30" A.F.F, with brushed stainless steel finish, installed per manufactures instructions between toilet and vanity in master bath. Coordinate with owner to execute Shower and Tile project via separate funding source Ensure strong attachment of grab bars and shower seat. Meet or exceed manufacturer installation specifications. Ensure placement into wall studs or provide securely mounted blocking in between studs where required. Conduct a "Lay Out" of grab bars and shower seat prior to installation of dry wall to ensure proper placement. The Contractor shall furnish all labor, materials, equipment, tools, transportation and supplies, and perform all work required according to the specifications of the contract. The Contractor shall assume all risk, loss, damage, or expense arising out of prosecution of the work, except as otherwise provided in the contract. The Government's estimated construction time for the project is 30 days. This is based on the most current information available to date. Updated information will be posted electronically on Federal Business Opportunities as it becomes available. Place of Performance: Avoca, Minnesota. The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) Code is 236118, and the small business size standard is $36.5M. The government anticipates award of a firm fixed price construction contract. Any interested and qualified sources are requested to submit their companies' capability statement (10 page count limit) and a letter of interest to Eural Bennett, contracting officer via email to eural.bennett1@va.gov. As part of your capability statement please include any current or past Government residential construction contracts you have been awarded or the ability to obtain sufficient proof of capability for this type of contract. In addition include what socio-economic category your company qualifies as (i.e Small Business, SBA Certified HUB Zone Firm, SBA Certified Small Disadvantaged Business, Service Disabled Veteran Owned, Veteran Owned Business, and Woman Owned Business). Any information provided is strictly voluntary. The Government will not pay for information submitted in response to this Sources Sought Notice. To be considered in this research, please provide the information above not later than 12:00pm CST on May 27, 2016.
