- This is a Sources Sought Synopsis seeking qualified 8 (a) firms. This synopsis neither constitutes a Request for Proposal, nor does it restrict the Government to an ultimate acquisition approach. This synopsis should not be construed as a commitment by the Government for any purpose. Requests for a solicitation will not receive a response. This Sources Sought Synopsis is in support of a market survey being conducted by the St. Louis District, Corps of Engineers to identify small businesses in the 8(a) program with demonstrated capabilities and experience in the following areas: Description of Work 1. South Unit Water Control Structures and Berm Degrades a. Construct six reinforced concrete water control structures i. Excavation and removal of existing single pipe water control structures, typically comprised of either a corrugated metal pipe or precast concrete pipe as well as a concrete or metal pipe inlet structure. ii. Excavation and foundation preparation, including care of water and placement of compacted rock for reinforced concrete water control structures. iii. Construction of cast-in-place reinforced concrete water control structures, including multi-cell box culverts, headwalls, wing-walls, and slabs. iv. Purchase and installation of self-contained stainless steel slide gates and weir gates on water control structure headwalls, including such items as alignment, testing, and grouting. v. Placing structural backfill, including compacting, grading, and finishing, as well as placement of rip-rap stone. b. Degrade and of existing earthen berms and rock surfaced berms, including clearing and grubbing, material wasting or stock-piling. c. Raising existing earthen berms near new structures, including borrow, embankment placement, compaction, stone surfacing, and seeding. d. Placement of stone surfacing along the top of an existing berm. The result of this market research will contribute to determining the method of procurement. This sources sought is limited to only small businesses eligible under 8(a) concerns. Provide business size and a Point of Contact. Any information submitted by respondents to this synopsis is strictly voluntary. The Government will not pay for any information that is submitted by respondents to this Sources Sought Synopsis. The Government requests interested offerors submit their capability and experience response no later than 9:00 a.m., Central Standard Time, on 18 May 2016, and should not exceed 5 one-sided, 8.5 X 11 inch pages, with the font no smaller than 10 point, to treniecestith@gmail.com
