- Description
- The National Institute of Standards & Technology (NIST) seeks information on vendors that are capable of providing an equivalent to an Oxford X-Max Extreme Windowless Ultra High Sensitivity Silicon Drift EDS Detector and AztecEnergy meeting the salient characteristics discussed below that is compatible with a FEI Helios 650 scanning electron microscope. The purpose of this notice is to identify organizations capable of providing equipment which meets these requirements. This announcement is not a Request for Proposals or Quotes (RFP/RFQ) and does not commit the Government to award a contract now or in the future. The information contained in this notice is DRAFT only and as such, is subject to change prior to issuance of a solicitation. No solicitation is available at this time. After results of this market research are obtained and analyzed, NIST may conduct a competitive or non-competitive procurement and subsequently award a contract. If at least two qualified small business sources are identified during this market research stage, and they are proposing equipment which complies with the Non-Manufacturer Rule standards/exceptions, this acquisition may be solicited as a small business set aside. NIST is seeking responses from all responsible sources, including large and small businesses (SB, SDB, WOSB, HUBZone, SDVOSB and VOSB). This requirement is assigned a NAICS code of 334516 - Analytical Laboratory Instrument Manufacturing with a small business size standard of 1,000 employees. Interested business organizations that believe they may be capable of meeting some or all of NIST's desired specifications detailed below should provide a capability statement demonstrating the ability of the Contractor's equipment to meet all of NIST's requirements, information on the system's compatibility with a FEI Helios 650 scanning electron microscope, and its current availability on the commercial market. Contractors may provide supplemental information within this document or as an attachment at their discretion. The salient characteristics are as follows: 1.X-ray analysis system compatible with FEI Helios 650 FIB SEM 2.Windowless 100mm2 silicon drift detector with <4mm detector working distance 3.Ability to detect Li x-rays 4.Motorized slide for detector retraction and positioning 5.Integrated sealed vacuum reservoir for the detector 6.Integrated detector flap for protection 7.Safety pressure sensor to protect the detector against the vacuum degradation 8.Pulse processor and scan generator modules for data acquisition 9.Control and x-ray analysis software fully integrated with the detector hardware 10.Dedicated control computer system
