- Description
- Technology Commercialization Opportunity: High Speed, High Current Pulsed LED Driver Background Information: Sandia's LED Pulser drives high-power LEDs to generate light pulses with shorter duration, higher repetition frequency, and higher intensity than is possible with commercially available LED drivers. This technology utilizes specially designed electronic circuitry that allows it to create intense pulses as short as ten nanoseconds that can illuminate extremely fast processes, such as fuel injection. The LED Pulser can emit up to four colors, each with independent timing and from a nearly coincident source area. This enables a wider range of optical applications and could lead to new imaging techniques. Sandia has applied for a US Patent on this technology. Technology Highlights: -Smaller and less expensive -Capable of MHz repetition rates -High resolution images of high speed processes -Operates with significantly lower energy consumption -Light-pulse duration approximately 3 orders of magnitude less (~10ns vs. ~10ms) -No warm up necessary Potential Applications: -High-speed machine vision -Semiconductor manufacturing -High-speed photography -High-speed scanning -Microscopy Opportunity Description: SNL is seeking partners to further develop and commercialize the high speed, high current pulsed driver circuit through Licensing Agreements. Sandia invites interested parties to provide a detailed description of relevant background, experience, expertise, and capabilities that could help commercialize the technology. Specific requirements are as follows: Mandatory Requirements: 1)U.S. companies that are able to enter into a licensing agreement with Sandia National Laboratories and have manufacturing capabilities 2)Demonstrated experience, expertise, and capabilities in the design, development and manufacturing of electronic driver circuitry 3)Demonstrated experience in bringing products to market In addition to evaluating the provided information as outlined above, Sandia will evaluate all responses and select prospective parties with which to engage in further discussions based on the following criteria, pursuant to Sandia's technology transfer mission: 1)How will the respondent deploy the technology for the benefit of the U.S. public good? 2)How would the respondent's deployment of the technology benefit U.S. economic competitiveness? Sandia is a multi-program laboratory operated by Sandia Corporation, a wholly owned subsidiary of Lockheed Martin Corporation, for the United States Department of Energy's National Nuclear Security Administration under Contract DE-AC04-94AL85000.
