- Description
- MICC-West Point intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source under the authority of FAR 13-106-1(b)(1)(i), "Only one responsible source" based on the company being the sole developer and provider of the products and is therefore the only source capable of satisfying the Government requirements. The Government intends to solicit and negotiate with SENSORS & SOFTWARE, 1040 Stacey Court, Mississauga, ON Canada L4W 2X8 for: LMX200 Enhanced System - QTY 1 LMX200 Cart GPS Mount Assembly - QTY 1 EKKO_Project - Interpretation Module Software License - QTY 1 EKKO_Project - Processing Module Preowned License - QTY 1 EKKO_Project - LineView Software Preowned License - QTY 1 EKKO_Project - SliceView Module Preowned _ QTY 1 EKKO_Project - USB Software Security Dongle- QTY 1 By purchasing a state of the art GPR, new research projects will gain integrated Global Positioning Satellite (GPS) positioning of every data point. The GPR will be compatible with several of the GPS devices that the department already owns and operates. The old GPR is a manual data collection device, meaning that each data point must be collected individually by pushing a button on the machine in a specific place on the ground, and then manually moving the machine along in I 0 Cm intervals to push a collection button at each point. A cadet project to survey a 25 square meter plot of land (searching for a buried canon on the parade field) required manually collecting 600 data points with the old GPR, and manually entering GPS data for each of those 600 points once the data was transferred onto a computer for interpretation. This plot of land required 1.6 hours of data collection and two hours to transfer data onto a computer for interpretation. With the new GPR, the same plot could be surveyed (with better quality radar equipment) by connecting the machine to a GPS and wheeling it back and forth (in a "mowing the lawn" type motion) continuously. Replacing the GPR will reduce data collection and transfer for a 25 square meter plot of land from 3.6 hours (old GPR) to three minutes (new GPR).
