N00164-16-S-NB56 - REQUEST FOR INFORMATION / SOURCES SOUGHT - BRAND NAME OR EQUILAVENT EXTEC LABCUT® 5000 SERIES ADVANCED PRECISION COMPOSITE PLATE SAW ITEM # 50484 - FSC 3408 - NAICS 332710 Issue Date 25 MAR 2016 - Closing Date 08 APR 2016 This is a Request for Information / Sources Sought Synopsis announcement; market survey for information only, to be used for preliminary planning purposes. No proposals are being requested or accepted with this synopsis. THIS IS NOT A SOLICITATION FOR PROPOSALS AND NO CONTRACT SHALL BE AWARDED FROM THIS SYNOPSIS. There is no formal solicitation at this time. This Request for Information / Sources Sought Synopsis does not constitute an Invitation for Bids (IFB), a Request for Quote (RFQ), or a Request for Proposal (RFP) and it should not be construed as a commitment of any kind by the Government to issue a formal solicitation or ultimately award a contract. The U.S. Government is in no way liable to pay for or reimburse any companies or entities that respond to this announcement. Any costs incurred by interested companies in response to this announcement or incurred for participation in the Market Survey will NOT be reimbursed. All information marked as proprietary information will be safeguarded to prevent disclosures to non-Government personnel and entities. Your interest in this response is appreciated. The Crane Division, Naval Surface Warfare Center is seeking prospective sources, including distributors of Brand Name or manufacturers of Brand Name equivalents, for the Extec Labcut® 5000 Series Advanced Precision Composite Plate Saw Item # 50484. This machine will be used to cut various types and sizes of composite material such as Solid Laminates with Cyanate Ester Resin & Quartz or Glass Cloth, Epoxy Resin & Quartz or Glass Cloth as well as Honeycomb Sandwich with Core types Fiberglass/Polyimide Hex Core, Phenolic Hex and Expanded Hexcore, and Syntactic Foam Core. Specifications for a Brand Name Equivalent Composite Plate Saw are as follows: Size • Machine must cut no less 3' X 3' and no more than 4' X 4' composite sheets with a minimum thickness of.0625" • Overall Machine Footprint must fit within a 90" wide X 90" deep X 60" height • Overall Machine Weight should not exceed 3,400 lbs. Cutting Carriage • Minimum 3.6hp Cutting Heat Motor • 380-440V • 3 Phase Driving • Diamond Cutting Wheels: Minimum 10" dia, maximum 12" dia • Variable Speed, minimum 2000 RPM to maximum 5500 RPM Worktable • Stainless steel slatted design • Laser engraved position reference • Pneumatic clamps on both sides of cut • Must accommodate composite sheet size minimum 3' and maximum 4' • Fully enclosed Cutting Head Traverse • Cutting Head traverse powered by brushless servo drive and inverter • Precision enclosed ball screw drive • Precision linear guides to ensure parallel cuts • Speed variable minimum 0.1mm/s to maximum 250mm/s • Limit switches at each end to define cut length • Minimum Length of cut should be 3'. Maximum length of cut should be 4' Fence • High accuracy fence on linear bars • Programmable adjustment with 0.01mm increments • Dual electronic motor drive • Minimum standard section thickness 0.25" • Compatible with custom fixturing / jigging • Pneumatic sheet clamps Coolant Circulation System • Integrated Coolant Tracking System applies coolant directly at cut location on both sides of cutting wheel • Recirculating filtration system Control Module • Fully programmable computer based control module • CNC user interface • Controls all machine functions in program or manual operation modes • Save and recall parts programs Safety Requirements • Emergency stop switch • Canopy safety interlock • Fully enclosed cutting environment to accommodate standard sized composite sheet • Port to fit optional dust or mist extraction systems • Wet cutting with recirculation filtration system Brand Name Distributor Respondents, please submit company name, address and point of contact information.
