Description
The Library of Congress intends to issue a request for quote on or about February 25, 2016 to procure metadata creation services in support of digital collections. Over the past two years, the Library has digitized audio and still image files for over 20 collections. Most of these collections do not have the metadata records needed to enable the online access of the materials. The contractor will be required to enter data into Excel spreadsheets. The source of the data will be scanned images of log sheets created by Library of Congress staff while in the field, and information provided by current Library staff. The scope of this project is approximately 20 collections, approximately 45 spreadsheets, containing a total of approximately 10,000 rows. Work shall be performed at the contractor's facility. The Library will provide the following: metadata mapping documents, blank spreadsheets, image files of log sheets, and uncorrected OCR of the log sheets, if available. Specific requirements for each collection will be addressed before work begins. The contractor will be required to deliver sample spreadsheets containing several rows to ensure that all requirements are fully understood. Once production has started, completed spreadsheets will be delivered electronically to the Library. FEDLINK services are used by federal libraries and information centers worldwide. Written responses should include prices and technical data sufficient to determine capability. No telephone calls will be accepted. Ref: LC16QFP002-DLCV.
