- Description
- VA Loma Linda Healthcare System is in need of an annual preventative maintenance, calibration & operational verification of (2) intra-aortic balloon pumps located in the Cardiac CathLabs surgical suites, EE# 37693, SN# 60927W, and EE# 37694, SN# 60929W. The hardware and software must be replaced with similar or like components for it to be within manufacturer specs and to function as intended and approved as an FDA device. The trained technician(s) must possess a current training certificate from Teleflex/Arrow Cardiac Care that can be made available upon request. The trained technician via the manufacturer's protocol and specs will repair/PM/calibrate on the devices to manufacturer specifications Period of Performance - 29 Feb - 15 Mar 2016, failure to complete these services will result in delays and rescheduling backlog for the Cardiology Department. The IntraAortic Balloon Pumping (IABP), or counterpulsation, is a widely accepted therapeutic method of temporarily supporting patients with impaired left ventricular function. Impaired left ventricular function causes low cardiac output and inadequate coronary perfusion. Counterpulsation helps to balance the myocardial oxygen supply and demand in these patients. The hemodynamic effects of counterpulsation are immediate, predictable and most importantly, decrease morbidity and mortality. For this reason, the IABP has become an important therapeutic tool in a variety of clinical settings: Emergency Departments, Cardiac Catheterization Labs, Operating Rooms and Intensive Care Units. This is an onsite urgent request for the Annual Preventive maintenance, calibrations and operational verifications be completed in a timely manner, in order to ensure manufacturer specs are met and this does not impede any delays in the Veteran patients diagnosis and treatment plan.
