Synopsis: This is a NOTICE OF INTENT TO AWARD A SOLE SOURCE CONTRACT Synopsis: ABBOTT SUPERA STENTS FOR THE BUFFALO VA MEDICAL CENTER, BUFFALO, NY 14215 1. The VISN 02, Network Contracting Office 02, located in Buffalo, NY is issuing a notice of intent to award an unrestricted sole source contract to Abbott Laboratories for Supera stents, as the only one responsible source as determined in accordance with procedures prescribed in FAR 13.106 and hereby publicized in accordance with FAR 5.101 and 5.201. 2. The purpose of this notification is the Government's intent to award sole source the purchase of Supera Stents of various sizes for use by the Buffalo VA Medical Center surgical units, which are manufactured by Abbott Laboratories. The preferred strategy is to procure this requirement as unrestricted, sole source from the manufacturer which is also the distributor. Anticipated award date is 25FEB2016. THIS IS NOT A REQUEST FOR TECHNICAL OR COST PROPOSALS. 3. DESCRIPTION OF REQUIREMENT: The Buffalo VA Medical Center in Buffalo, NY 14215 is in need of several Abbott Supera Stents to provide adequate healthcare solutions to patients being treated for peripheral artery disease. The Supera stents provided by Abbott Laboratories are exclusive to the manufacturer. As each patient case presents unique requirements, it is imperative that a variety of stents are available to healthcare providers. Inclusion of Supera Stents will further improve the capabilities of the medical facility. This non-competitive award is implemented by FAR 13.106-1(b), as it has been deemed that only one source is reasonable available to meet this requirement. The Government intends to procure this sole source requirement under FAR Part 13, Simplified Acquisition Procedures. 7. THIS NOTICE IS NOT A REQUEST FOR COMPETITIVE PROPOSALS and a solicitation will not be issued. This notice of anticipated contract action is published as required by 15 USC 637(e), USC 1708, and implemented by FAR 5.201(a). For additional information regarding this action, please contact the POC as indicated below. Oral communications are not acceptable in response to this notice. A determination by the government not to compete this proposed requirement is solely within the discretion of the government. 8.
