Description
This project will replace nine (9) capstans and two (2) capstan controller houses with inverter-controlled capstan systems and new capstan controller houses, and repair seven (7) capstan controller houses at Dry Dock #6. Replacement of the nine capstans includes: replace 150 PS (horse power) (158 KW) high voltage capstan/motor systems with 126 KW (40-ton) low voltage inverter control capstan/motor systems; replace concrete capstan pits; replace ventilation/drain/lighting systems in the capstan pits; replace local capstan control panel boards in the capstan pits; repave around the capstan pits. Replacement of the two existing capstan controller houses includes: demolish the existing deteriorated capstan controller houses (Facilities J161 and J185); provide two (2) capstan controller houses with concrete foundations, ALC (autoclave light-weight concrete)siding, corrugated pre-coated steel plate roofing with insulation, aluminum windows, eaves, downspouts, steel doors and steel beam/column structures, lighting and ventilation systems. Repairs to the seven existing capstan controller houses to include: repainting the exterior sidings and roofs, replacing steel doors, windows, eaves and downspouts, power receptacles and lighting. As a series of associated necessary process with repair of DD6, underground power distribution branch lines from a high voltage (6,600 V) power supply facility (Bldg. J9) to the capstans through the controller houses will be replaced with low voltage (440 V) underground lines with two (2) new transformer cubicles and XFMR feeder systems from the low voltage distribution facilities (Facilities J160, J166, J169, J184, 1835 and 2059).
