Description
CONTRACT INFORMATION: This is a Sources Sought Notice and is for information purposes only. THIS IS NOT A REQUEST FOR PROPOSALS, QUOTATIONS, OR BIDS. NO SOLICITATION IS CURRENTLY AVAILABLE. A Market Survey is being conducted to determine the number of contractors qualified in historic preservation restoration for the following complex proposed contract. General Services Administration (GSA) has a need for a Contractor to provide services for the inspection and maintenance of permanently installed powered platforms at the Anthony J Celebrezze Federal Building in Cleveland, Ohio. This building maintenance unit, BMU, is manufactured by XSPlatforms in the Netherlands and XSPlatforms, Americas, Inc. The OSHA regulations require that a BMU be inspected by a qualified person within 30 days of each service cycle (assuming you do this 4 times a year), This particular inspection is more of a site check of all the important functions and components of the system. The intent of the pre service inspection is to ensure that all the equipment is working in efficient order and is good condition. The OSHA regulations also require that a BMU be inspected annually in accordance with the manufacturer's requirements. This is a more involved inspection as many system diagnostics are required annually. Inspections would focus upon the five basic components of each unit which are the track, the roof car, the boom arms, the platform and the suspension wire rope. T he component which endures the most use of a BMU is the steel suspension wire ropes. The ropes would be inspected by lowering the platform so that the entire length of each rope is checked for tightening or any broken strands, localized bends or kinks, excessive wear or heat damage and any internal or external corrosion. The electrical supply cords would be checked at the same time. Additionally, all power switches, emergency switches and function switches shall be checked as well as all operational features and limit switches. The BMU tracks would be inspected to be sure they are free from damage, corrosion or seam separation. The roof car itself would be checked to insure wheels are free from damage and working properly. The boom arms would be checked and all system hydraulics operating the boom are required to be inspected. Interested parties should send replies to Contracting Officer Connie Bilek-Hammond via email at connie.bilek-hammond@gsa.gov n o later than (30 days) after the posting of this notice.
