Description
The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) seeks information on commercial vendors that are capable of providing a High Spped Camera Upgrade. After results of this market research are obtained and analyzed and specifications are developed for the High Speed Camera Upgrade that can meet NIST's minimum requirements, NIST may conduct a competitive procurement and subsequently award a Purchase Order. If at least two qualified small businesses are identified during this market research stage, then any competitive procurement that resulted would be conducted as a small business set-aside. The Gatan K2 camera upgrade for our current environmental scanning/transmission electron microscope (ESTEM), equipped with an image corrector and monochromator, will enable us to collect high-resolution images with a 100 nm x 100 nm field of view at frame rates of up to 1600 s-1, substantially improving our current capability (frame rate of 25 s-1). Field installation and training must be included. Technical specification for High speed camera upgrade: 1. Must be compatible with our existing Titan 80-300 ETEM operated at 80 kV, 200 kV and 300 kV and existing Ultrascan camera. 2. Sensor active area must be 19 mm x 18 mm or larger. 3. Sensor pixel size must be 3.5 K x 3.5 K or higher. 4. Readout modes should include conventional, super-resolution, in situ, and counting. 5. Maximum image size in pixels must be 7 K x 7 K or higher with super resolution 6. Physical size of one pixel must be 5 µm or larger 7. Full sensor readout must be at a frame rate of 400 s-1 or higher. 8. Capture frame rate in in the situ mode must be between 400 s-1 and 1600 s-1 or higher. 9. Look back and data recording up to 15 s or more must be possible 10. Lower frame rate in the order of 10 s-1 must be possible in image display mode. 11. In situ player with processing options such as crop, bin, drift correct, average, particle tracking must be included. 12. Multimedia out capability with time stamp must be available. 13. Vendor will be responsible to provide appropriate hardware required for the full functioning and installation in the space available in the GIF camera housing which is currently equipped with an Gatan ultrascan, Gatan and FEI darkfield and bright field STEM detectors. 14. Appropriate software for image acquisition in all modes specified in item 4, data transfer and both on-line and off-line image processing software must be included. 15. Upgraded camera must function at 80 kV, 200 kV and 300 kV operation of the ETEM. 16. Must include installation and training. Control and analysis. The upgrade shall include all the hardware and software for data collection and analysis. Integration, assembly, and service. The overall high speed camera upgrade - including all hardware and software - shall be assembled and serviced by technicians who are trained and authorized by the system manufacturer, and integrated with the existing Titan 80-300 ESTEM. The data collection will be aligned for ESTEM operated at 80 kV, 200 kV and 300 kV to ensure the maximum level of capability and functionality of the system. 1. WARRANTY. A 1 year warranty for manufacturer defects shall be included with the product. The warranty period commences after the vendor receives notification from the government regarding acceptance of product. 2. REQUIRED DELIVERY SCHEDULE. The upgrade shall be received within 4 months after award of the contract. Companies that manufacture High Speed Cameras capable of meeting or exceeding the specifications identified above are requested to email a detailed report describing their abilities to Lynda.Roark@nist.gov no later than the response date for this sources sought notice. The report should include achievable specifications and any other information relevant to your product or capabilities. Also, the following information is requested to be provided as part of the response to this sources sought notice: 1. Name of the company that manufactures the system components for which specifications are provided. 2. Name of company(s) that are authorized to sell the system components, their addresses, and a point of contact for the company (name, phone number, fax number and email address). 3. Indication of number of days, after receipt of order that is typical for delivery of such systems. 4. Indication of whether each instrument for which specifications are sent to Lynda.Roark@nist.gov are currently on one or more GSA Federal Supply Schedule contracts and, if so, the GSA FSS contract number(s). 5. Any other relevant information that is not listed above which the Government should consider in developing its minimum specifications and finalizing its market research.
