Description
This is a notice of intent to increase the ceiling of Contract N66001-14-C-4025 with Hydroid, Inc., awarded by SSC Pacific on behalf of the Defense Advanced Research Project Agency (DARPA) on 29 July 2014 for a performance period of twenty three (23) months. Under this contract, Hydroid, Inc. supports the DARPA HYDRA program by developing an Undersea Payload Module (UPM) to fully integrate into Technical Area 1 (Modular Enclosure (ME)) that is shock resistant for safe Autonomous Underwater Vehicles (AUV) transport and efficiently charging, transfer of data, and launch and recovery of the AUVs as needed during its mission. This increase in effort is proposed to enhance the design and technology by including underwater wireless data transfer capability as well as underwater wireless battery charging. The effort will also include the development of an internal Interface Control Documents (ICD) for the Wireless Data Transfer Subsystems as well as definition of the AUV wireless design and demonstration plan. The NAICS code for this procurement is 541712. Due to the nature of Research and Development efforts, DARPA could not have reasonably estimated the results of the research from this contract, as new partners have become available requiring an expanded developmental effort. This action includes a ceiling increase of approximately $410,000 with no change to the Period of Performance. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals or quotes and will be posted for 15 days. A determination by the Government not to compete based upon response to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Interested parties may submit comments in writing to the Contract Specialist, Mr. Larry Hartpence, Code 22530, SPAWAR Systems Center Pacific who may be reached by telephone at (619) 553-4506 or via email to larry.hartpence@navy.mil.
