- Description
- Amendment 3: Contractor Questions that were answered in Amendments 1 & 2 could not be seen in their entirety in FedConnect. This amendment corrects this problem. Also, this amendment extends the due date of this RFI to January 12, 2016 @ 12:00 EST. 1. Q: Are there requirements for managing unstructured (Big) data? A: No. 2. Q: Are there any specific high availability requirements? (e.g., system must maintain 99.999% availability through the year, require automatic failover between nodes, must replicate all data, binaries, configurations to a remote site for disaster recovery). A: No. 3. Q: Is the data from the instruments transferred to the database in real-time data streams? (vs manual load, batch process, etc.). A: No. 4. Q: I'm inquiring about the Front-end capabilities requested in this RFI. The Oracle database application does have a generic UI interface associated with it. My assumption is that EPA region 7 might not be satisfied with this or is seeking specific capabilities/functionalities associated with an updated front-end user interface. Is this accurate? If so, can you provide some guidance about what type of capability or functionality EPA is expecting from the front-end UI? I feel the RFI does not address this. It would be great to speak with the end user to really get a sense of what they'd like to have in an updated Front-end user interface. A: No User Interface requirements have been included in this RFI. 5. Q: The RFI states: The STC currently has a locally-developed Oracle database application that the Region 7 laboratory uses to manage environmental laboratory information. What technology was used to develop this application? Oracle Forms and Reports? Application Express? Other? A: Primarily Oracle Forms and Reports version 6. Some third party add-ins used to handle PDF generation, email, and MS Office integration. Extensive use of Oracle stored procedures and/or database triggers. 6. Q: The RFI states: About 200 forms and reports are needed as the front-end of this system. Do you already have 200 forms and reports or do you need 200 forms and reports developed as the front-end of this system? A: We already have 200 forms and reports in production, but assume that none of them will be usable in the new system. 7. Q: The RFI states: In general terms, describe the solution your company would recommend for a front-end solution for the Promium database (commercially available database). A: Ok. 8. Q: Does STC currently use Promium solutions? If so, what is the back-end Promium database (for example: Oracle, MS SQL, Access, proprietary, etc)? A: No, the STC does not currently use Promium solutions. 9. Q: Can you give examples of the functionality of a front-end solution? A: Yes, but have been instructed not to provide this information as part of the RFI process.
