Description
The proposed IFB procurement is UNRESTRICTED under NAICS code 237110 - Water and Sewer Line and Related Structures Construction. The estimated magnitude of construction is between $5,000,000.00 and $10,000,000.00. The work includes civil, structural, mechanical and electrical improvements to the East Shaft Pumping Station to increase its reliability and improve its function. Specific work items include removal of the existing East Shaft pump and installing a replacement submersible pump. Construction of structural floor & wall modifications, replacement of existing electrical transformers & switchgear, SCADA modifications and replacement of traveling screens. The Washington Aqueduct (WA) provides portable water to approximately one million people in the District of Columbia and Northern Virginia. The East Shaft Pumping Station is the point of entry for water to the McMillan Water Treatment Plant (WTP) which handles and treats about 40% of the Washington Aqueduct's entire production. The project will provide a comprehensive rehabilitation to the East Shaft Pumping Station. The McMillan WTP is a critical component of the distribution system and so careful consideration has to be given to the phasing of work and critical outages have to be scheduled and met during the low production season. Therefore, an experienced contractor with resources and expertise to handle the following project constraints is needed: The solicitation will be posted on FedBizOpps (FBO) at www.fbo.gov on or about 19 January 2016. For information concerning the North American Industry Classification System (NAICS), go to http://www.census.gov/cgi-bin/sssd/naics/naicsrch?chart=2007. Interested contractors must be registered with the System for Award Management (SAM) database to receive a government contract award. You may register with SAM at https://www.sam.gov/portal/public/SAM/.
