- Specifications Part II Specifications Specifications part 1 SOW Source Sought Doc ***The Government does intend to accept any proposals from foreign contractors on the effort*** The purpose of this Sources Sought is to conduct market research to determine if responsible sources exist, to assist in determining if this effort can be competitive and/or a total Small Business Set-Aside. The proposed North American Industry Classification Systems (NAICS) Code is 335912 or other applicable NAICS starting with "335 Electrical Equipment, Appliance, and Component Manufacturing" which has a corresponding Size standard of 500 employees. The Government will use this information to determine the best acquisition strategy for this procurement. The Government is interested in all small businesses to include 8(a), Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned, Hubzone, and Women-Owned small business concerns. The government requests that interested parties respond to this notice if applicable and identify your small business status to the identified NAICS code. Additionally, please provide any anticipated teaming arrangements, along with a description of similar services offered to the Government and to commercial customers for the past three years. Any responses involving teaming agreements should delineate between the work that will be accomplished by the prime and the work accomplished by the teaming partners. The Mk12A Arming and Fuzing (AFA) Silver Zinc Battery spares were last purchased in 2005 (figure1). Existing spares are being depleted. New spares are needed to support the Minuteman III (MMIII) missile system through 2030. Qualified manufacturers are being sought for these batteries. Production of new batteries will be managed from Hill AFB, UT. This effort will require the production of 25 qualification batteries with qualification testing of 21, followed by a production effort of 192 batteries (estimate only) with lot acceptance testing, of the Mk12A AFA Silver Zinc battery spares. The Mk12A battery is remotely activated and provides power for the MMIII arming and fuzing system. It is comprised of a monoblock, reservoir assembly, and pressure activated valve (PAV). The reservoir assembly consists of a potassium hydroxide (KOH) reservoir with a piston (external to the battery), and an electrically ignited gas generator (external to the battery), which provides KOH to the monoblock. The PAV is a safety device that prevents battery activation until 50,000 ft altitude is attained. •• Size: Approximately 3.66" L x 2.56" W x 1.7" H •• Weight: 1.4 to 1.7 lbs. •• Nominal Voltage: 17.4 to 42 volts •• Monoblock: 22 Silver Zinc cells •• Capacity: >900 amp-sec, 3400-sec min runtime (56 min) •• KOH Reservoir Capacity: 34 to 37 ml This effort is considered a replenishment spares buy and is not intended as a development effort. This is a production effort with very little non-recurring engineering. The estimated contract award date will be in Fiscal Year 2017.
