- OPMOSDBU0025 THIS EVENT IS FOR SMALL BUSINESSES. Large businesses will not be allowed to participate. On December 09, 2015, the U.S. Office of Personel Management will host its 5th Annual Small Business Conference - #BusinessPOWER. BusinessPOWER will assist small business owners in understanding the processes involved with planning to conduct business with the Office of Personnel Management during fiscal year 2016. Within the last two years, OPM's small business events have been the most anticipated federal contracting and B2B networking events in the Washington, DC metropolitan area. Historically, our events have had over 200 small business owner attendees. This year's event will include panel discussions, matchmaking sessions and a break out session based on the following: Panels Tips for Getting Past the Gatekeeper - The first step in federal contracting is getting in the door. It doesn't matter if you have the greatest product or the most dynamic presentation if you can't get in front of the decision maker. Tips for Getting Past the Gatekeeper panel addresses how to get the initial appointment and offers various methods from several agency OSDBU Directors for getting through to the decision makers. The Technical Proposal - What makes a good proposal? One attribute is appearance. A strong proposal has an attractive, professional, inviting appearance. In addition, the information should easy to access. A second attribute is substance. A strong proposal has a well-organized plan of attack. A strong proposal also has technical details because technical depth is needed to sell your project. The Technical Proposal panel consists of Contracting Officer Representatives that will provide insight on the strength and weaknesses found in technical proposals from small businesses. Success Driven- Asked what's driving the success of small business awards. Successful small business contractors share their story on the success & pitfalls of conducting business with the federal government.
