Description
Courtland POWER LINE CONDUCTOR REMOVAL Nebraska-Kansas Area Office (NKAO) McCook, Nebraska 69001 1.0 Background Reclamation ¿s Nebraska- Kansas Area Office (NKAO) manages two major projects that consist of several major features that include dams, powerplants, canals, tunnels, and offices in Nebraska and Kansas. NKAO projects provide water for flood control, municipal and industrial water supply, recreation, and fish and wildlife benefits. The work required under the anticipated purchase order is to remove approx.. 5 miles of ageing power transmission lines. These lines are located near Superior, Nebraska and cross over the state line into Kansas. Contractor will be responsible for removal and disposal of the transmission lines and support guide wires. The actual poles themselves will be left in place 2.0 Scope The contractor shall provide all personnel, equipment, tools, materials, supervision, and other items and incidental services necessary to satisfactorily remove and disposed of transmission lines, conductors and guide wires. The contractor will not be responsible for the removal of existing power poles. 3.0 Objectives Remove ASCR conductors and overhead high strength steel ground wire from an abandoned, de-energized, transmission line as shown on the attached drawings. The conductors and overhead ground wires will be removed and salvaged/disposed of by the contractor. The power poles and supporting line are 55 years old and their condition has not been determined. Any poles that are damaged or break during the removal process shall be laid in the existing right of way to be disposed of by the government. The transmission lines is approximately 45 ft. above the ground surface poles in drainage ditches can be as tall as 65 feet. The existing line has been pulled down and anchored to the ground in several locations where it crosses other overhead power utilities. Any additional coordination with utilities required for the removal of the line shall be the contractor ¿s responsibility. The location of the line, right of way, and other details are shown on the attached drawings.
