- The U.S. Department of Commerce (DOC), National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), Eastern Acquisition Division-Kansas City office intends to award, on a sole source basis, under the authority of FAR 13.106-1(b)(1), with Kaydon Corporation for three (3) Radial Bearings for the NEXRAD radar system the NOAA National Weather Service Office of Operational Systems located in Silver Spring, MD. A Sources Sought notice was posted on the Federal Business Opportunities (FBO) website on July 15, 2015 and closed on July 23, 2015. No responses were received. Justification for Sole Source The Radial Bearing being purchased is manufactured solely by Kaydon Corporation located in Muskegon, MI and is the only source of this part due to the proprietary nature of this product. All spares for the NEXRAD radar system are required to be identical to the item that was provided with the original equipment.
