Description
The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Domestic Nuclear Detection Office (DNDO) Systems Engineering and Evaluation Directorate (SEED) is seeking information on the readiness of commercial vendors to provide portable spectroscopic devices (“devices”) in order to take advantage of the opportunity to collect a number of non-standard radiological spectra with their instruments. The goal of the effort is to conduct a market survey of the industry, provide manufacturers with an opportunity to improve their instruments’ identification performance against unusual isotopes, and provide a vehicle to refine the government’s evaluation procedures using the Replicative Assessment of Spectrometric Equipment (RASE) process. The information provided by vendors as a response to this RFI will be used to select devices for participation in this event.
