Description
Statement of Need THIS IS NOT A REQUEST FOR BIDS, QUOTES, OR PROPOSAL. AT THIS TIME NO SOLICITATION EXISTS. A FUTURE NOTICE MAY BE POSTED IF A SOLICITATION IS RELEASED. This is a sources sought announcement only. The purpose of this notice is to conduct market research and obtain information from qualified businesses. Interested parties of any size may submit a response to this notice. The BEP is interested in acquiring additional Large Examining and Printing Equipment (LEPE) for the Western Currency Facility in Fort Worth, Texas. The LEPE examines incoming currency sheets, letterpress prints acceptable sheets with serial numbers and seals, cuts and packages stacks of sheets into straps (100 notes with paper band), bundles (1000 notes paper banded, shrink-wrapped and labeled), bricks (4000 notes shrink-wrapped) and cash-paks (16,000 notes shrink-wrapped and labeled), then palletizes the product for shipment. The LEPE accepts a wide range of sheet sizes and formats (notes per sheet). Currency produced on the LEPE shall have an identical appearance, size and printing characteristics to currency presently produced by the BEP. All packages produced on the LEPE shall have an identical appearance, durability and strength to existing packages produced by the BEP. The draft Statement of Need is attached. FAR 52.225-1 Buy American-Supplies clause is waived. INTERESTED PARTIES SHALL PROVIDE THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION IN THEIR RESPONSE: 1. Company name, address, phone number, primary contact(s), email address, ALL applicable NAICS code(s), business size (i.e., small/large), company's socioeconomics (i.e., woman-owned, HUBZone, Service Disabled Veteran Owned, etc.) and DUNS Number. 2. Product information and specification to include country where the product is manufactured. 3. Information on large integrated examining, printing, cutting and packaging systems previously manufactured. 4. Typical delivery schedule for the equipment. 5. Information on alternative manufacturing systems for high volume currency manufacturing. Responses shall be emailed to gladys.wilks@bep.gov and khoa.tran@bep.gov. Telephone responses will NOT be accepted. Responses must be received no later than 10 September 2015, 11:59 p.m. (EST).
