- Description
- On March 2, 2015, a Request for Proposals (RFP) will be issued by the National Park Service (NPS) to solicit proposals from the private sector to lease, on a long-term basis, one or two of the historic buildings in Hot Springs National Park - the Maurice and Libbey Bathhouses. The Libbey is located three blocks east of "Bathhouse Row" on Reserve Street. The Maurice is located on "Bathhouse Row" a National Historic Landmark District that contains the grandest collection of bathhouses of its kind in America. These buildings are arrayed in a continuous row along the main street of the City of Hot Springs, Arkansas, opposite the City's "Main Street" style commercial streetscape. Built between 1892 and 1923, these historic buildings range in size from approximately 12,000 square feet to over 22,000 square feet. Other buildings located on Bathhouse Row besides the Maurice are: the park's Headquarters Building; the Lamar Bathhouse which serves as NPS office and curatorial space and also is the home of the Bathhouse Row Emporium, the park's official store; the Buckstaff Bathhouse, a traditional bathhouse that has been in continuous operation since 1912 and open to the public under an NPS concession contract; the Ozark Bathhouse, is the park's Cultural Center; the Quapaw Bathhouse, leased and operated as a modern day spa featuring the hot springs thermal waters; the Superior Bathhouse, leased and operated as a brewery and distillery; the Fordyce Bathhouse, used as the park visitor center and the Hale Bathhouse is in negotiations for a lease to open as a boutique hotel and specialty restaurant. Parties interested in obtaining an RFP should contact Management Specialist Tricia Horn by mail at Hot Springs National Park, 101 Reserve Street, Hot Springs, AR 71901, by phone at 501-620-6730, or via email at tricia_horn@nps.gov. Electronic copies of the RFPs are also available on the park's website at: http://www.nps.gov/hosp/parkmgmt/index.htm If you choose to retrieve a copy from the park's website, please notify Ms. Horn so you are placed on the mailing list to receive notifications or other correspondence regarding this RFP. Any offer must be received by 4:00 p.m. on January 29, 2016, hand carried, mail or overnight delivery to National Park Service, Midwest Regional Office, 601 Riverfront Drive, Omaha, NE 68102, Attention: Commercial Services Manager.
