- It is the intent of the US Fish & Wildlife Service to enter into a firm fixed price purchase order with American Science & Engineering (AS&E) to obtain the Mini Z Handheld Backscatter X-Ray Imaging System (Quantity 1) for the USFWS Branch of Training and Inspection under the authority of 10 U.S.C. 2304(c)(1) as implemented by FAR 6.302-1, only one responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements. AS&E is the only is the only vendor that produces a handheld Backscatter system that can produce images using single-sided imaging to quickly locate hidden potential threats or contraband behind organic surfaces. USFWS/OLE was unable to find another source for a similar product that provided all of the needs that the Mini X Backscatter can provide. The North American Industry Classification System Code (NAICS) is 334517 - Irradiation Apparatus Manufacturing, with a size standard of 500 employees. This notice is for informational purposes only. This is not a request for quote, nor a solicitation for offers. All responsible sources may submit a capability statement, proposal, or quotation, which shall be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether or not to conduct a competitive acquisition. A determination by the Government not to compete this requirement based on responses to this notice is at the discretion of the Government. Responses are due no later than 3:00 PM EDT on August 13, 2015. The Government will not be responsible for any costs incurred in responding to this notice. Interested parties may submit information for consideration of their capabilities and qualifications to valarie_reinholz@fws.gov. A firm-fixed price commercial purchase order will be awarded NLT August 15, 2015.
