Description
NASA/GRC has a requirement for a new 120 kN Capacity Hydraulic Gripping System for multi-functional mechanical testing of flat specimens in an existing MTS Systems Corp. Insight 50 load frame. Grips: Gripping System shall include 2 (two) each hydraulic wedge grips with flat specimen side loading capability. Minimum static force capability shall be 120 kN, and minimum dynamic force capability shall be 100 kN. Minimum operating temperature range shall be 0 degrees C to 170 degrees C.Interface to the MTS Insight 50 load frame shall be by MTS M27 x 2 mm high strength threaded rod fastener; all adapters and locking wedge washers shall be provided to enable preloading and locking at the full rated axial value. The grips shall be pre-lubricated and ready for immediate use. Hydraulic Supply: Gripping System shall include a self-contained hydraulic pumping and control system to simultaneously operate each grip to its fully open and closed position. Supplied pressure shall be sufficient to clamp test specimens for the full rated value of the hydraulic wedge grips. Hydraulic hoses and fittings shall be provided for connection of the pump system to the wedge grips. Hydraulic supply shall permit operation of grips over the minimum operating temperature range of 0 degrees C to 170 degrees C. Electrical power requirement shall be wall power at 100 to 115 VAC, 60 Hz. Grip Wedges: Gripping System shall include grip wedges for each wedge grip to interface to flat test specimens with a range of thicknesses from 0 mm to 19 mm.Gripping surfaces of all grip wedges shall be treated for permanent high friction contact to enable force transfer of at 100 kN.Grip wedges shall be pre-plumbed for water-cooling. Minimum operating temperature range shall be 0 degrees C to 170 degrees C. Water Cooling: A water manifold with metering valves shall be provided for routing of chilled water to the grip wedges. Fittings and a minimum of 12 feet of hose shall be provided. Functional and Performance Test: The Government (or the Supplier, at the Suppliers option) will install the 120 kN Capacity Hydraulic Gripping System and perform a functional test to assure that full actuation of the grips is achieved with continuous smooth operation, and that no leaking of hydraulic fluid or water occurs throughout the full range of the rated hydraulic pressure. If this is not achieved, the Supplier shall replace or repair the Gripping System at no additional charge to the Government. Warranty: The Supplier shall warrant the 120 kN Capacity Hydraulic Gripping System to be free from defects in materials and workmanship for at least 1 (one) year after shipment to the Government. Manuals: The Supplier shall provide Installation and Operation manuals for the 120 kN Capacity Hydraulic Gripping System in hardcopy or digital format. Shipment: The Supplier shall ship and deliver the 120 kN Capacity Hydraulic Gripping System to the Government at the following address: NASA Glenn Research Center Attn: Receiving MS: 152-1 21000 Brookpark Road Cleveland, OH 44135 The Government intends to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12 and the Simplified Acquisition Procedures set forth in FAR Part 13. The Sole Source is under th authority of FAR Reference 13.106-1(b)1. NASA/GRC intends to purchase the items from MTS Systems Corp. Due to the proprietary nature of the equipment, hardware, fastener system, and specifications, this procurement is a sole source. The Government intends to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12. Oral communications are NOT acceptable in response to this notice. All responsible sources may submit an offer which shall be considered by the agency. NASA Clause 1852.215-84, Ombudsman, is applicable. The Center Ombudsman for this acquisition can be found at http://prod.nais.nasa.gov/pub/p ub_library/Omb.html.
