Description
The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), Agricultural Research Service (ARS), Crop Germplasm Research Unit (CGRU) in College Station, TX intends to negotiate a sole source contract with Texas A&M AgriLife Genomics and Bioinformatics Services located in College Station, TX for services and reagents needed to sequence RNA and DNA samples on an Illumina HiSeq Genome Analyzer. The reagents and services will be used to generate data from DNA and RNA sample runs on an Illumina HiSeq Genome Analyzer, which offers high-throughput whole-genome sequencing. The Unit will be purchasing the following items: 1. Preparation of ten (10) Truseq-stranded RiboZ depletion of rRNA libraries 2. Four (4) HiSeq HO 125 bp paired-end RNA sequencing lanes to be run on a HiSeq 2500 genome Analyzer 3. Preparation of Twelve (12) lanes to be run on an Illumina HiSeq DNA Analyzer 4. Twelve (12) lanes of pre-run library QC 5. Twelve (12) samples sheared on the Covaris The cost per lane includes reagents, supplies, and labor, which will allow the unit to utilize an Illumina HiSeq Genome Analyzer, a high-throughput, whole-genome sequencer. The Unit will be conducting a continuation of previously published research done by this Unit, in which the RNA biological samples were run in the above facility (Olsen, et al, The Plant Genome, 2013; Dugas, et. al. BMC Genomics, 2011). In order to guarantee experimental continuity and enable current results to be compared to previous results, samples must be prepared in the exact same manner and run in the same facility as was used previously. Using a different sequencing center will require repeating all previous experiments at considerable cost to the ARS research unit. The unit will be conducting a continuation of a genotyping experiment begun in 2011, in which the samples were run in the above facility (Klein et al. Journal of Plant Registrations 2012, 2015). In order to guarantee experimental continuity and enable results from 2015 to be compared to results from 2011, 2012, 2013, and 2014, samples must be run in the same facility as was used previously. In addition, the Unit currently has access to an established data pipeline utilizing the instrumentation provided by the TAMU GENO facility. Use of another facility will force the unit to spend time and money to either modify or construct a new data pipeline in order to retrieve the data generated. Use of another facility will require the unit to ship time- and temperature- sensitive biological samples across the countryor state, risking loss or damage of the samples. This is a notice of intent and is not a request for competive quotations or proposals. No solicatation is available. Firms that believe they can provide equial or superior services are encouraged to identify themselves and provide a substantive statement with descriptive literature and any other supporting information to the Contracting Officer with in 10 days of publication of this notice. All responses must be in writing and should be emailed to gloria.lopez@ars.usda.gov. Questions concerning this acquisition must be directed to Glroia Lopez at the above contact information.
