Description

Project description: The proposed project includes the repair of the firefighting trainer (FFT), 19F3C, Building 510 at NAVSTA Great Lakes (Main Site); affected category codes include 17135, 82320, and 82410. Repair work will allow re-activation of the FFT after being out of service since 2006. The repair work will allow the trainer to perform as originally designed and meet required UFC 4-179-01 (Design: Navy Firefighting School Facilities) standards. Repairs include: Structural repairs throughout the FFT (19F3C) shall consist of repairs to the trainer mock-up fireplaces including the replacement of damaged structural steel beams/supports, repair damaged concrete beams, repair cracking on walls, and repair concrete beams to include protection by refractory ceramic panels and heat shield over concrete beams to prevent further damage. Floor Repairs throughout the FFT spaces consist of repairs to the crawl space floors including patching and sealing concrete curbs to prevent propane gas and water from collecting in the corners; repair floor cracks and replace door thresholds. Roof repairs include the removal and disposal of the existing roofing system completely and providing a new roof system.
